“Letgo my ego”, think I just coin phrased a new slogan.
I sometimes wonder if Angelina Joli wakes up in the morning, looks in the mirror and exclaim, “I could look even better than this”. Ego is a very strange thing..I wonder if anyone is satisfied with what they got stuck with here on the planet when they got here. I wanted to look like Cher when I was a kid. What I wouldn’t give, just to have long, black, straight hair and be tall and skinny. Unfortunately, I ended up being born with blonde curly hair. Just an average “Joe” when I looked in the mirror. No, I wasn’t at all pleased with my looks, but, accepted the fact that I would never look like someone I wasn’t. There is such a huge focus on looks these days, it makes me sad to think that insecurities of what we look like aesthetically, plays a big factor when it comes to self worth.
(In my opinion of course). The beauty industry is thriving in creating a younger version of oneself, myself included, but the point I’m trying to make is, we live in a world where we have to be “better than”, “smarter than”, “prettier than”, “more talented than”. Ugh! And there ya go…your Ego working hard for ya. Another point I’m trying to make is “why?!”. I HATE that word “why”. What a stupid word! When somebody does something that does not jive with moral ethic codes, or say things that could potentially hurt one’s “feelings”, we ask, “why!” For crying out loud! Can’t people just accept the fact that people do dumb stuff and say dumb things that do not meet societal standards? I mean, when I do something dumb, I sure as hell don’t want to be reminded by a third party that I did something dumb! “Why did you do that?” “Why” the f$#k do you care? Are you my shrink? Are you the moral ethics police? Unless you fit this criteria, to me, stay the f$#k outta my face, and while you’re at it, get a life! “Why” don’t you mind your own bees-wax? I mean, let’s get real here. “Why “ does anyone do anything? Could it be that Sometimes, we have to or need to have our egos stroked, …er..I mean, get attention, or maybe not even that! Sometimes, we just slip up and do dumb stuff, without even knowing it, or realizing we’re doing something that makes people raise their eyebrows. Hey! It’s my blog! I can express my opinions if I want to. There also a comment option if anyone wants to chime in, lol!
And another thing; I also think that when people express their feelings about anything at all these days, they are entitled to that right, here in America, home of the brave and land of the freedom of speech. We are all humans being humans, coexisting, and living in the year 2025.
I for one am excited to begin this new year with a clean slate, and a new, better attitude about myself and my beliefs. Gonna follow my happy this year! Minus the ego trips of course. That’s my story I’m sticking to it!
